Adam, not to minimize OCD but I welcome your intrusive thoughts on anything art-related at any time! I don’t say the same for exercise (though I should) because it would detract from the unhealthy amount of time I spend perusing, posturing and poring over even “bad” contemporary art… cuz it’s all good! 😂
Participating in the "art world" has been really triggering for my mental health, but art is ingrained in my identity. My philosophy about art is Deweyian, in that I truly believe that every person is capable of being an artist and living an artful life (a subject I write extensively about).
Gauging an artwork on the criteria of "good" or "bad" hasn't been a concern for me in a while, since I'm far less focused on art's material value/display and more attentive to its experiential and sensory qualities. Art's always "good" in the context of social and emotional experience.

That said, I have a lot of recent musings about art, especially as it relates to fitness. My most recent examples being an analysis of artwork inspired by fitness aesthetics in museum collections (https://artfullyexercising.substack.com/p/the-art-of-fitness-equipment); and the work of Helga Wretman, who has combined her fitness and art practices (https://artfullyexercising.substack.com/p/the-art-gymnasium-making-a-physical).
