I could hear the late, great comedian Richard Lewis’ voice in my head as I was planning this workout. Lewis is credited with coining the often used phrase "the (fill in the blank) from hell.” So in his honor, I’ve done my damnedest to create “the workout from hell.”
This hellish routine is heavily focused on endurance, which I think is fitting when considering that one’s eternal fate in the underworld would require a significant amount of fortitude.
Another reason why the workout gets its name, is because the devils press burpee (see: “Workout of the Week: The Devil is in the Details”) is the key exercise. And since I’m on a roll with the wordplay in this post, the devils press will give you that total body burn. It has been revealed in a test by science-based fitness trainer Jeremy Ethier, to be one of the more significant calorie and fat burning exercises.
Burn, baby, burn!
I’ve structured the routine into four groups of supersets. Each superset has one constant exercise, which is the devils press. That means that when all is said and done, you will have performed it for 200 grueling repetitions. Each of the other exercises will be done for fifty reps. This is clearly a time and energy consuming endeavor!
Superset one:
Ten devils press
Ten chin ups
Rest and repeat for a total of five rounds
Superset two:
Ten devils press
Ten dumbbell squat thrusters
Rest and repeat for a total of five rounds
Superset three:
Ten devils press
Ten push up to renegade row
Rest and repeat for a total of five rounds
Superset four:
Ten devils press
Ten lateral burpees over dumbbells
Rest and repeat for a total of five rounds
Congratulations, you’ve made it to hell and back!
This concludes another “Workout of the Week” for your exercise enjoyment!

That’s quite the workout! The one thing I don’t have is a chin-up bar. Since I’m working away from home, and living in a holiday trailer, I’ve got no way to install one either. I would have to get a gym membership just to use one piece of equipment…
