Great post. I have also suffered with pure OCD - it's absolutely debilitating. I have recently found a few things that have helped: magnesium and 5HTP supplements, and The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle (the latter is the subject of my latest Substack post!). Hope your new stoic practice gives you some respite!

Thank you, Rose! I just started to take magnesium citrate before my evening walk with my dog (a time when I really get triggered by intrusive OCD thoughts). I'll look into 5HTP as well. My therapist recommended The Power of Now too. Seems like it's the fundamental text on treating OCD. I'm going to zoom over to your Substack and read that post! It'll be a nice primer to reading the book.

Yes. What is in your control? What do you give your energy to? How do you talk to yourself?

I find that graphic you shared very useful. We can spin our wheels worrying about those things outside our circle so easily!

Giving therapy and fitness my all has been paying dividends. In the past, I didn't take therapy that seriously. I'd wane in and out with consistency, and not do the "homework." I think that fitness has pushed me to be more productive about my mental health treatment. I am more in control about many things than I've been before.
